One of the things I'm really passionate about when it comes to working out is making sure that I'm properly hydrated. You would be amazed at how many people do not pay attention to this small little detail when working out, and also how dangerous it can be if you don't. Not only are your workouts less effective if you aren't properly hydrated, but you are also putting yourself at risk for muscle cramps, fatigue, and in the worst cases, serious problems light heat stroke or fainting.


Pay attention to what your body is telling you before and after your workouts too. If you see a lot of weight loss right after working out - that isn't fat loss, it's water loss, and you need to drink more water!


Sometimes doing something simple like investing in a quality water bottle can help you stay motivated to stay hydrated. I have a really nice stainless steel water bottle that I carry with me every where I go in the gym. It's a pretty large one as well, since I don't like having to refill it over and over again when I'm working out.
